5pm: The Adventures of Picasso
(Tage Danielsson, 1978, Swedish)
This film is about Picasso's life and art, told through a distorted mirror. Don't worry, it's not the kind of 'let's make a boring movie out of a famous person's life with bad actors and zero creativity... '
It might seem to be a somewhat shallow and burlesque film, but it is more than a ordinary comedy. It also shows the trouble of becoming the victim of your own public image, and how the creativity and the personal life may suffer from it. In many ways it is a film in the same spirit as Charlie Chaplin's "The Dictator", slapstick mixed with reflection.
7pm: Chihwaseon (Drunk on Women and Poetry)
(Kwon-taek Im, 2003, Korean)
You can watch the trailer of the movie here!
